Still life

Create a still life composition in warm colors using your own imagery./photography/scans. No cools please. Warm greens are OK.Think about tones and values in general, how to mix them, their characteristics, how tones and values affect space, mood, mass and volume.

One place to start is Donald Sultan's lemon series. Here the emphasis is on positive and negative forms and spaces, and on edges and evidence of the hand/process.

Note the contour edges, subtle color shifts, division of space, evidence of process in the wipes and scratches. He has overlapped the lemons and eliminated volume to produce new, flat forms. However, one limitation in this piece as far as a model for the project is the lack of a range of warms.

Examine Sultan's work, and the work below, and then interpret the project in your own way, stating within the project parameters.media and format are open. these can be posters, postcards, CD covers, prints, t shirts, web designs, video projections, 3d models.

Note 1: Your blacks and darks should be warmed up with the addition of reds, oranges, yellows.
