Assignment 5: Thumbnail Storyboard Exercise
Early in the week, the facilitator will assign a synopsis to you for creating rough thumbnail boards to establish visual direction (that was assignment 4). Create the thumbnail boards, scan them, and post them to the appropriate Discussion Thread, by Day 5.
Review and critique the thumbnail boards of the student to whom your synopsis was assigned and provide feedback on how well your idea was captured by the end of the week. Also suggest improvements.
Assignment 4: Synopsis Exercise
Think of a small story that can be told by a 30 sec - 1 min animated sequence. Write a synopsis of this story including the basic elements of storytelling as described in the lectures. By Day 4, post the synopsis to the appropriate Discussion Thread.
NOTE: you will storyboard this for assignment 5.

Okee doke, here's mine. This will be fun to draw! .... I just hope I don't have to animate it! :'[
Characters:
Sergio Sterling- Mustachioed vampire hunter. Acts like a 30s/20s gangster,
calls people by nicknames (Sport, Rookie, Babe, etc)
Vamp A: Tall, round but muscled, bald covered with tribal
tattoos and piercings. Yes men to Ashura
Vamp B; Ashura: Scrawny, wears a black "wife beater" tank top
and baggy pants. Black beanie over top of shoulder length black hair.
Cocky and boisterous, leader of the three.
Vamp C: Big muscley type dude. Jaw is longer and sticks out to show fangs
protruding from jaw. Dark-skinned with hair tied back in a top-knot of
sorts.
Basic scene is Sergio talking up a group of vamps before running into the fray to fight with them.
Sergio is holding a bottle which will eventually become a motolov. Spins/tosses slightly into the air. Ashura stands straight saying some not to kind words to Sergio egging him on and insulting him.
Sergio grins, tips his hat (a fedora to be exact!) to them saying a few choice words, and then straightens his hat.
Ashura and his cronies reel before he growls, bearing his fangs in defiance saying some more stuff, laughing and pointing at the bottle that holy water can't hurt them.
(Camera in switching between the two groups.)
Sergio laughs, popping the top of the bottle, before stuffing a piece of cloth into the bottle. "Who said anything about holy water, bub? Fire works much better I've found."
Lights the cloth and grins before throwing it at Vamp A, the contents shattering and lighting Vamp A into a bright firey lightshow Vamp A is of course howling in pain right about now. Ashura and Vamp C watch their companion and whip back to see Sergio pulling out his two trusty cain swords, spinning them on a finger on each hand.
"Since we already have our light show, shall we get this party started?" Sergio rushes at the camera.
(This is where actual fighting would take place if this we a video game. The player would take control after this scene.)
