When I markup work, make suggestions, I don't want you to think I'm trying to tell you what to do, make your work look like mine...and you can always respond by holding your ground and defending your original decisions.
But I do have a broader experience and will be making observations on decoration versus basic structure, context, cliche versus original, exercise versus portfolio piece.
Put your thick skins on, think of course feedback as a conversation going two ways.
I also go pretty fast, especially for drafts, so if my responses are short (and they may seem therefore curt) the tone is meant to be collegial.
