Prelim thumbsFor labels use small text, perhaps grey or charcoal - and
make them available but unobtrusive -Sometimes the labels stand
out more than the work - but its like a car dashboard - you
want to look down at the speedometer - but you dont need it
right there on the windshield - Its a common issue - a detail
- but oh-so-important |
Brainstorming with student thumbsChoose one thumbnail from five students in the class. Using
the Idea Index pp. 90-145 for reference, draw a new variation
for each thumbnail you have selected. Please explain why you
made the changes that you did in each case. Eric Norcross A student (web design, not des tech) screen shot showing work along with "client, status, description" |

Week 5"Attached is the latest version of my CD. I really didn't need to change much. Fortunately, I performed color and contrast adjustments to each individual image before exporting from Photoshop to Illustrator. I did, however, slightly increase the brightness and contrast of the entire design. These adjustments definitely made the white text more legible. I did add a few more lines of copy, including the band's website information. The CD label image was extended to the innermost ring. I also applied an outer glow to the band name, album title, and track listing. When I converted the document to CMKY the outer glow I applied was severely diminished. The yellow coloration was barely perceptible. All of the colors were less vivid and appeared faded. This was especially noticeable in the band photo." Adam

Resourceslinkscreativepro.com How
to print a tray card more linksthe following links will help you see what is going on in the
design world - good questionHow do designers feel about Open Type? Ifunderstand correctly, it's an alternative to havingboth TT and PS versions of fonts. Is this correct?was reading the article linked in the lecture notes,"Thirteen Telltale Signs," by Robin Williams. When Inoticed the year of publication (1995), I had tolaugh at her comments about using Helveticabecause it was so "'70's," considering only a fewyears later the 70's would be back in style. Arethere any recent professional practices notmentioned here we should know about? ANSWER: Open type is fine - check out this link at adobe.com/opentype/ And the answer to number 2 is YES! I noticed that grunge is out in skatemags and surf mags - super clean is in with perhaps grunge or eccentric logo and included content here is a great article from a great site fontshop.com/fontfeed Design terms/Digital vocabularyformat |
